Fourth of July on the Plaza
The Sonoma Fourth of July on the Plaza is a small town festival that makes you feel proud to be an American. The day is kicked off with a parade featuring marching bands. From then on you'll find a lot to entertain at the Sonoma Fourth of July on the Plaza including live music, games, and a chance to hang out in Sonoma's historic plaza. Don't forget to try a hot dog or some apple pie.
At dusk folks head on over to the large field in back of the General's Daughter Restaurant or in front of General's Vallejo's Home, whichever way you want to see it. Both are a block west of the Sonoma Plaza on Spain Street.
The Sonoma 4th of July fireworks display has large safe area in the middle of the field and people gather round on the East and West sides. Many of the folks from the Sonoma 4th of July on the Plaza festival head over to the fireworks and therefore the East side is much more crowded. It wasn't too difficult finding parking on the West side at 8:45pm, but it was starting to get tight.
The Sonoma 4th of July fireworks boom through the valley and create a great echo effect. The show is about a 1/2 hour long and always peaks at the end. Highly recommended, true Americana, bring a picnic, cooler flashlights and sweaters.
