Live at Juilliard!
Music in Juilliard Park Santa Rosa Summer Concert Series aka Live at Juilliard is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon listening or dancing to free music with friends and family.
A nice stage is set up towards the back of the park next to the bocce ball courts. Feel free to bring a blanket, lawn chairs, picnic lunch and of course a bottle of Sonoma County wine. Wine, food and coffee are also offered on the premisesso feel free to indulge yourself at the event.
The level of music played at Live at Juilliard is always very good, however it is the overall atmosphere that makes this event especially fun. Live at Juilliard is very family friendly as well as dog friendly, as long as your pooch is on a leash. Folks play frisbee, bocce ball and dance to the music as kids run around and enjoy the day. Hats off to the city of Santa Rosa for creating this fun free event.
Live at Juilliard Summer Concert Series 2009 Line up
July 12 -The Pulsators (click for video)
Rooted in the fertile Musical soil of the Sonoma County Wine Country the Pulsators are a six piece band that plays its own brand of music. With a get-up-and-dance kind of orchestration, their music has been defined as a spicy blend of driving blues, New Orleans-funky R&B, rock steady reggae and rock-and-roll. Their music supports an ever-growing legion of faithful fans who keep coming back for more.
July 19th- Santiago
With a wide span of influences and a focus on content over sheen, Santiago transcends the usual indie-rock cliché of the weed-trimmer hairstyle and hi-hat backbeat. At times fiery, sometimes tender, but always too goddamn loud, Santiago's enduring songs are testaments to a keen skill for elevated writing and a punk rock aesthetic that many "indie" bands aim, unfortunately, to deny. This ethic comes from years of collective time in bands such as Tilt, Ground Round, Off Kilter, Mr. T Experience, and Last Chance, but the heart and soul of Santiago is a different thing entirely, and is a sight to behold in a live setting.
July 26th - The Thugz
Don’t let the name fool you!
The THUGZ
(aka -tribal hippie underground zone) (click link for video) is a band of veteran musicians dedicated to playing the finest in listening, dancing, and party music. The band’s repertoire ranges from inventive originals to psychedelic classics and “grateful” jams.
August 2nd - The Shannon Rider Band
Shannon Rider & her band have been rockin' audiences in and around Sonoma County for the past ten years. She has built a strong reputation as one of the premier voices on the West Coast.
August 9th - The Jethro Jeremiah Band
The Jethro Jeremiah band rocks. Their mainstay is Reggae music, but they have a way of winding various music forms through a song that is unique and quite creative. This in itself will make the Jethro Jeremiah band stand head and shoulders above the average band trying to break into the music business. ” – Cecelia
