Muelrath Ranches
3rd generation Sonoma County farmer Bob Muelrath has been sustainably farming pumpkins since 1995 at Muelrath Ranches which is also a commercial pumpkin farm. So basically this is the real deal, a true working pumpkin farm.
When you enter Muelrath Pumpkin Farm there is a nicely decorated area that features the pumpkins for sale as well as a hay pyramid, a covered mini hay maze, a mini corn maze, haunted room and hay rides. All are very well done and are executed with some precision. The mini covered hay maze was a new experience. You enter in and go around the first corner and it is pitch black! And I mean pitch black! Luckily, I had my camera with me so I sort of cheated my way around by using the flash. It was fun and I can't deny I was a little startled by how dark it was. Bottom line, pretty cool.
The mini corn maze is perfect for the little ones as it is almost impossible to get lost. But it is also fun for older kids too. Basically it is the perfect size to get the feeling of a corn maze without the hassle of getting lost.
The haunted room was simple yet entertaining. Just a small room with some Halloweenish items to amuse, complete with fog machine.
Muelrath Ranches really shines in many areas. Pumpkin selection and price, the hay ride that goes through the very large pumpkin patch and the overall presentation is very traditional. Like I said before, very well done. Bob encourages people to bring a picnic with them and just hang out in any of the inviting areas on the ranch. So relax enjoy the day, play with your kids and do all the activities at Muelrath Ranches all for the price of a pumpkin. What more could you ask for?
