, celebrating it's 25th Anniversary this year, is presenting the wine country premiere of the award winning new film Even The Rain which stars Gael Garcia ("Motorcycle Diaries") Bernal. The Special Event on Sunday, April 17th at the Summerfield Cinemas in Santa Rosa, will include the film (4pm), preceded by a reception with Deerfield Ranch
Wines (3:30pm) and a panel discussion (5:45 - 7pm) following the film. "We are delighted to offer a special opportunity to celebrate "Earth Day Week" with this remarkable film that touches on so many profound themes, and to have a great panel of personalities who will discuss the film and issues after the movie," says Stephen Ashton, WCFF Director. The Panel and discussion following the screening will pose the questions: How is the best way to preserve the precious resource of Water? Should water be considered a Human Right or a commodity? Should water be controlled by multinational, for-profit corporations or safeguarded by the public with strong local oversight and accountability measures? Guest Speakers include: ~ Supervisor Mike McGuire - Invited Guest - Sonoma Co. 4th District ~ Mark Schlosberg - National Organizing Director - Food and Water Watch ~ Jim Bowler - member of a committee working to form the Mark West Community Services District - ~ Jim Graham - Spokesperson for Felton FLOW - Friends of Locally Owned Water - He will talk about reversing privatization in Felton - a long, tough, admirable and successful effort. - ~ Dennis Welsh - Retired Wastewater Manager of Novato Sanitary District He will discuss the issue brought before the Novato voters: local control of public services vs. outside corporate ownership. ~ Robert Rex - Winemaker and Owner of Deerfield Ranch
