Teens Cook Dessert: Quick Treats to Fancy Sweets at Sur La Table
What better way to share the joys of cooking with teens than to teach them how fun and easy it is to prepare their own favorite dishes—desserts?! In this mini cooking school camp Sur La Table will show teens how to bake with skill and confidence as they prepare a variety of globally inspired sweet treats like Turtle Brownies, Tiramisu, Malted Milk Ball Cookies, Cheesecake Ice Cream, and much more.
For five fun-filled days, Sur La Table's experienced chef instructors will walk teens through kitchen fundamentals like how to follow recipes, measuring, mixing, monitoring cooking temperatures and timing—and perhaps most importantly—kitchen safety. Then, they'll share time-honored techniques for a number of dishes, including how to work with pastry dough, making soufflés, pie dough from scratch, a delicious ice cream base that’s easy to flavor to your tastes, and more.
On the last day of class they will divide students into teams and host a baking competition to show off what students have learned. Parents are encouraged to join them at the end of class that day and watch them crown the winning team. Afterwards, teens take home a Sur La Table apron, a Kuhn Rikon Deco Pen and a copy of Teens Cook Dessert!
