Lucinda Williams at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts
It’s not all that hard to find an artist capable of offering a look at life’s dark clouds, nor is it uncommon to find one who hones in on the silver lining, but the ability to do both with equal grace is altogether rare, and it’s a gift that Louisiana-bred singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams displays with remarkable elegance.
Her latest album, “Blessed,” plays with those textures in some of the most straightforward songs of her 30-year career. Her “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road” album earned Williams her first Grammy Award and her second came as a writer on Mary-Chapin Carpenter’s version of Williams’ “Passionate Kisses.” Throughout her career, Williams has shown herself as an artist who never backs down from a challenge, whether collaborating with Flogging Molly or putting her own spin on iconic tunes like Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street.”
Williams says, “I have to keep reminding people that, yeah, I’m a musician, but first and foremost, I’m an artist and art is about expression.”
Come and see Williams play at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts
in late June. It's going to be a great concert!
