Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts
Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan will be playing at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts
in mid July. Here's a little more about the high energy group.
For five generations Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán has endured as the quintessential mariachi, appearing in more than 200 films and making numerous recordings, including a feature appearance on Linda Rondstadt’s double-platinum Grammy Award-winning album “Canciones de Mi Padre” (Songs of My Father).
Widely recognized as "el major mariachi del mundo” (the greatest mariachi in the world), Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán was founded in the late 1890s in a small city near Jalisco and spent their formative years defining their sound and experimenting with different instrumental lineups. Today, they are credited with modernizing the genre. Their meticulously crafted arrangements have propelled national pride for what has become Mexico's classical sound. Their music crosses over from one generation to the next, making their performances appealing to both young and mature audiences.
