Roots: Americana in Courthouse Square
In an effort to enhance downtown vibrancy, the City’s Economic Development Division is presenting a free community music event series in Courthouse Square called "Roots: Americana." This event will entail the use of Courthouse Square & the closure of Mendocino Avenue between 3rd & 4th Streets. In addition to adding social programming to the downtown area, the idea behind Roots: Americana is community building -- to encourage people of all ages to pick up instruments & play music together while also promoting local folk/Americana artists. Roots: Americana will consist of 3 music areas with overlapping programming – a facilitated jam area, a small acoustic band area & a main stage. Limited Food & Beverages will be available on site.
The September 10th event will feature three stages of music, with performances by Arann Harris and the Farm Band (all-organic music and good times), The Dirt Floor Band (punk-grass mutt music), and Mr. December (a danceable bass and ukelele combo), as well as many other local musicians.
