bovolo - Sonoma County - California Wine Country Restaurant

bovolo, located in the rear of the co-op Plaza Farms on the south side of the Healdsburg Plaza, is the sibliing restaurant zazu/">zazu in Santa Rosa. bovolo is the Italian word for a type of snail, the symbol of the SLOW FOOD movement, and while bovolo restaurant is set up with the active tourist in mind, it's a place to get slow food fast. Order at the counter and the staff will bring you all sorts of fresh, tasty fare. You'll want to gravitate towards anything PIG: the house-cured meats, black pig salumi or sausage; the "world famous" pork cheek (from said Black Pig) sandwich with roasted peppers and salsa verde. bovolo restaurant also has all sorts of fabulous gelatos for dessert, or take advantage of the gelato concoctions available, like a gelato float or gelato sandwich dipped in Scharffenberger chocolate. bovolo's wine list is conveniently focused on half-bottles, with one selection in just about every flavor, or go with a "quartino," a glass and a half carafe of your choice red or white. I'd take bovolo over most any other quick lunch stop in Healdsburg for its freshness, quality and consistency.
