Chateau and Gardens at Chateau St. Jean

The chateau at Chateau St. JeanShow on map was originally built in 1920 as a summer home for a Michigan mining family, the Goffs. The chateau itself has been inscribed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's list and is open for visits. Since they hailed from Michigan the Goff family built two fish ponds near the chateau in the shapes of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. The Courtyard Garden at Chateau St. JeanShow on map is in the formal style typical of France and Italy, and contains several pleasant fountains.
