The founder of Raymond Burr Vineyards
and his friend Robert Benevides had such a strong interest in orchids that they ran a commercial orchid nursery for more than 20 years that pioneered the hybridization of over 2000 varieties of orchids. While the commercial operation has ceased, the core collection of 1000 varieties of orchids was moved to Raymond Burr Vineyards and is still cultivated by Robert Benevides. Fresh orchids from the collection are also on display in the tasting room at Raymond Burr Vineyard when they bloom.
