Austin Creek State Recreation Area
Elevations here range from 150 to 1500 feet. From some of the knolls of the rolling hills, you can catch a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean. Bullfrog Pond of course is home to noisy bullfrogs, but also anglers can enjoy fishing for sunfish and black bass on its waters. Many creeks crisscross the park but they are closed to fishing in order to protect the spawn. 20 miles of trails are open to hikers and equestrians alike. Many wildlife can be found in the park, from black bear to deer to mountain lions, plus introduced species like wild turkeys and feral pigs. Bauhaus ceramic artist Marguerite Wildenhain had a home, workshop and school here, and the remaining buildings are open to visitors. A campground allows you to explore this magnificient park at your leisure.Notables: hiking, camping, fishing, horseriding
