Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery
While it may seem a bit macabre to include a cemetery among Sonoma County's wonderful parks, Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery is also a pleasant place for the living. No longer located in a rural area, the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery was once the burial grounds for Santa Rosa in the early days. Today, burial in the cemetery is restricted to descendants of those already buried there, and many locals walk their dogs, jog and even come to enjoy a peaceful picnic in the Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery. Volunteers keep the grounds at Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery in top condition. Docent led tours at the cemetery will introduce you to the history of Santa Rosa and spooky fall lamplight tours introduce you to some less than savory characters in the town's history while raising funds for worthy causes.
