De Loach Vineyards is a medium-sized producer of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel among other varietals. Always bustling, but also bursting with quality small lot wines. Along West Santa Rosa's Olivet Road, where you can make a day of it visiting here and Pellegrini, Sunce, Harvest Moon, and Hook & Ladder. Lovely picnic grounds.
Notables: De Loach Vineyards was purchased in 2003 by Boisset America, and in a stroke of genius brought in rising star winemaker Greg LaFollette from Flowers Vineyards, known for Sonoma Coast
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The Russian River Valley line is still well-distributed throughout the country, but the OFS (Our Finest S---) and Single Vineyard wines are pretty limited in availability. There's always something special open here, such as a 42-case production $85 Pinot Noir on my last visit. Who else pours a 42-case production wine? Just one great reason to stop by the tasting room at De Loach Vineyards.
