Ridge/Lytton Springs Winery
Ridge's Lytton Springs facility is likely Wine Country's most ecofriendly, from the building's hay insulation to the solar panels, earthen plaster and recycled wood. The wines are noteworthy too, with the Santa Cruz Chardonnay named #2 wine of the year in Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2007.
Notables: This historic property has some fabulous old vines on it, and Ridge uses them to make some wonderful Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, as well as blending wine. The remodel made Ridge not just eco-interesting but also more visitor friendly, with a full patio for picnicking beside the old vines.
