Iron Horse Winery is a venerable sparkling wine house located in Green Valley, off Highway 116. The still wines here have made a great leap to excellent, especially the Chardonnay. The Pinot Noirs are also excellent and somewhat under appreciated given the cult status of some other Russian River Pinot Noir producers.  Iron Horse Vineyards and Winery's sparkling wines are generally more French in style, with the Russian Cuvee the slightly off-dry bottling.  The vintage sparklings age beautifully, if you have the patience to hold on them.  There are very few tasting experiences with a view like this one in Sonoma County. 

With a fantastic view over Green Valley (part of the Russian River Valley), sample Iron Horse Winery's renowned sparkling and still wines outdoors under the awning. Iron Horse Vineyards & Winery is one of the few wineries in Sonoma County where you taste outdoors, rain or shine, but either way it's well worth the side trip.
